Neurotherapy

Neurotherapy is a combination of neurofeedback along with other types of treatment that support neurofeedback or address neurofeedback in a different way. We have found that combining neurofeedback with other treatments can help people to feel better and gain results more quickly. We may suggest other types of treatment that we offer along with neurofeedback as part of your treatment. Any recommendations we make are based on your specific symptoms and the results of your QEEG.

Neurostimulation

Many functions of your body are controlled and driven by electrical impulses that emit naturally. A well-known example is your heart. Approximately every second, an electrical impulse sets off a muscle contraction in your heart that pumps blood throughout your body.

Your brain also uses electrical impulses continuously. While Neurofeedback measures various electrical impulses and then allows the brain to naturally regulate the intensities and patterns of these impulses, Neurostimulation allows us to actively engage the brain’s electrical impulses. Neurostimulation is the use of very low level electrical current to stimulate and regulate the electrical impulses of the brain in various ways. The use of Neurostimulation is completely painless and can bring about enhanced treatment of many different kinds of symptoms.

Depending upon your brain’s electrical patterns and your symptoms, a treatment plan will be drawn up specifically for you. We utilize various types of electrical impulses to tailor a treatment plan specifically for your needs.

Dr. Bonack has received and continues to receive extensive training/consultation in neurostimulation by Nick Dogris, Ph.D. founder of Neurofield Inc. and Tiff Thompson, Ph.D.. Dr. Bonack has found this ground-breaking technology very helpful in the neurofeedback process.

tACS – Transcranial Alternating Current Stimulation

tACS passes electrical impulses back and forth between two electrodes. This type of treatment helps the brain to heal and recover. It can be used to change the current pattern of behavior in the brain. We utilize tACS in a number of ways to help train your brain perform differently. With tACS, we will give your brain the specific frequency it needs more of with the goal that your brain will replicates what it is given. So if you need more alpha brain wave activity (relaxed but alert), we may include that as part of an electrical stimulation protocol to support what we are doing with neurofeedback treatment.

tDCS – Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation

tDCS passes a single directional current through the brain, allowing the brain to become more responsive to the benefits of Neurofeedback and pEMF therapy. tDCS has been known to help people who struggle with significant depression. Specifically, tDCS in conjunction with neurofeedback can be very helpful in addressing treatment resistant depression. We may use tDCS as part of an electrical stimulation protocol to support what we are doing with neurofeedback treatment.

tRNS – Transcranial Random Noise Stimulation

tRNS passes a random pattern of frequency and amplitude alternating currents to help your brain strengthen more of what it needs. Studies show that “white noise” stimulation effects the brain by strengthening a specific frequency it is lacking such as Delta (slow wave activity often occurring with sleep that also helps with feeling more grounded and relaxed). White noise delivered in specific frequency ranges can help in the neurofeedback process as well.

pEMF – Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field

pEMF uses electromagnetic energy to support the changes that the brain is making during neurostimulation or neurofeedback treatment.

RTZ – Real Time Z-score Neurofeedback

RTZ is a combination of one or all of the stimulation methods listed above, in conjunction with neurofeedback.

HEG – HemoEncephaloGraphy

HemoEncephaloGraphy neurofeedback uses passive infrared technology to monitor the temperature of the frontal lobe to help increase cerebral blood flow, aiding in better metabolic activity. The frontal lobe of the brain is very important, in that it helps with decision making, regulates impulse control, attention, working memory, emotional regulation, problem solving, initiation, judgment, spontaneity, and social behavior. This technology can help the frontal lobe work more efficiently, which can help with many types of symptoms people may experience.

VieLight Near Infrared Treatment

We use both the VieLight Gamma and Alpha unit to facilitate healing of the brain. This treatment can be a powerful adjunct to neurofeedback as it can help facilitate more rapid progress. Photobiomodulation helps with ATP production and repairs cells within the brain. VieLight treatment can be helpful for people who have symptoms resulting from a TBI, concussion, PTSD. It also can be helpful with being able to address problems related to anxiety, depression, cognitive processes, chronic pain, and can assist in better sleep.

HRV – Heart Rate Variability Training

We use both HeartMath ® and Neurofield’s HRV unit, which helps you learn to breath more coherently and may help reduce your anxiety.

Alpha-Stim ®

A treatment that can help with anxiety, depression, and for some, may help reduce pain.

BAUD – Bio Acoustical Utilization Device

Uses sound frequencies to address a wide variety of symptoms.
